Electrical Safety (Intro) (Topic 3) in Module 1 – Solar-PV-NABCEP-Associate (BG)

Electrical Safety (Intro)

PV systems can produce dangerous DC voltage and current whenever modules are illuminated. Even small strings can exceed typical household voltage.

Two key hazards

  • Shock: current through the body (depends on voltage, resistance, and path).
  • Arc flash / arc blast: a high-energy electrical arc that produces extreme heat, pressure, and light.

Core safe-work habits

  • Treat PV conductors as energized until verified otherwise.
  • Use correct tools and meter settings.
  • Keep covers on live parts, manage exposed conductors, and follow procedures.
  • If you are unsure, stop and ask — electricity is unforgiving.
