Half Letter फ् (pha halant)

In Hindi, adding the virama (्) below फ creates the half letter फ् — it silences the inherent 'a' vowel and makes this consonant join the next one without a vowel between them. Ways to write the half letter: 1. Halant form: फ्   (the virama ् appears below the full letter)2. Conjunct form: When फ् is followed by another consonant, the two letters merge visually into a conjunct (e.g. फ्क = फ्क). Some conjuncts develop unique shapes; these are learned as whole units. Example words using फ्: - फ्री ('free') — Free (loanword) - फ्लेवर ('flevar') — Flavour (loanword) - फ्रिज ('frij') — Fridge (loanword) - भ्रष्ट फ़्लैग ('bhrasht flag') — Corrupt flag (loanword blend) - सफ्ल ('saphal') — Successful (alt. spelling)
