Half Letter ध् (dha halant)

In Hindi, adding the virama (्) below ध creates the half letter ध् — it silences the inherent 'a' vowel and makes this consonant join the next one without a vowel between them. Ways to write the half letter: 1. Halant form: ध्   (the virama ् appears below the full letter)2. Conjunct form: When ध् is followed by another consonant, the two letters merge visually into a conjunct (e.g. ध्क = ध्क). Some conjuncts develop unique shapes; these are learned as whole units. Example words using ध्: - ध्यान ('dhyaan') — Attention / Meditation - ध्वनि ('dhvani') — Sound / Phoneme - अर्धांगिनी ('ardhaangini') — Wife (lit. half-body) - प्रबोध्य ('prabodhya') — Advisable / Teachable - ध्रुव ('dhruv') — Pole star / Fixed
