Nasals, Liquids, and Glides (M, N, NG, L, R, W, Y) (Topic 4) in Module 1 – English-Pronunciation (BG)

Nasals, Liquids, and Glides

These sounds are “continuous” and resonant (you can hold them longer than a stop):

  • Nasals: /m/ /n/ /ŋ/ (air flows through the nose)
  • Liquids: /l/ /r/ (tongue shape matters a lot)
  • Glides: /w/ /j/ (Y) (quick mouth movement into the vowel)

Focus on consistent tongue placement, and avoid adding extra vowels before/after the target consonant.
